The fifth Beatle was not Murray the K, it was their producer, Sir George Martin. The legendary musical genius (Martin, not Murray) will be at USC today July 11, at Bovard Auditorium, where a multimedia presentation is scheduled to take place on the making of the classic (some say best of all time) Sgt. Pepper album.
Then, tomorrow July 12th, the Grammy Foundation presents their annual Starry Night gala. The tribute dinner and concert honors, you guessed it, George Martin, with many musical celebs set to attend and perform, including Tom Jones (I wonder what Beatle song he might sing? Perhaps "My Pants Too Tight"? Wait, did the Beatles do that one?). Of course, everyone is wondering whether Paul and/or Ringo might show up. Especially Ringo, since he lives in LA. The LA Report does not know at this time, but if you get a ticket and go, please let us know.
Finally, let's hope Chris Carter can get Sir George live or on tape for his always-entertaining Sunday morning radio show, Breakfast with the Beatles. (The show is currently celebrating its 25th year on the LA airwaves.) KLOS 95.5 FM, Sundays 9am to noon.
