As the legalization of medical marijuana continues to make headlines around the world, activist Ed Forchion, better known as NJ Weedman, continues to do his part to advance the agenda and increase the awareness of the plant he deems sacred. In anticipation of the upcoming Cypress Hill's Smokeout Festival, the hip hop's community celebration of all things marijuana with a two-day music fair and expo, featuring marijuana cult figures Cheech and Chong; and rappers/actors Redman and Method Man ("How High"), NJ Weedman is celebrating the rise of cannabis with yet another special event.
His "Hollywood Hills Hemp Mansion Party - the Lavish Libra Edition," will take place October 10 from 8:30 p.m to 4:00 a.m. in the hills of Hollywood, CA. Based on the response and success to his "Rooftop, Reefer, Reggae Leo Party" held last month, NJ Weedman is planning to mark each month with a special zodiac celebration.
NJ Weedman is also finishing an autobiographical book, "Public Enemy #420," the memoirs of a black marijuana activist, which he plans to release soon.
"Marijuana is a sacred plant that heals. That is my message. The hip hop community has always known and embraced this. Cypress Hill are my heroes for continuing to recognize and elevate this agenda with their upcoming Smokeout Festival. As an activist and former political prisoner, I have been at the forefront of this political issue, so it's great to see events like this happening. It's wonderful to be living in "the prop 215 era" in California now," expresses the New Jersey political exile. "a state heralded for its freedom of expression. With thirteen states having legalized medical marijuana, it's just a matter of time before every state and the federal government catches the buzz and votes to legalize." New Jersey Weedman aka NJ Weedman.com discovered early on that marijuana soothed his suffering from asthma. An avowed Rastafarian rebel, the former New Jersey resident has openly and indiscriminately incorporated the use of marijuana into his daily practices and spiritual belief system. A well known cannabis activist, even before its legalization in several states, he founded the Legalize Marijuana Party in 1998. NJ Weedman achieved cult status and media notoriety when he was arrested for smoking the sacred herb in front of the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, PA.
His legal medical marijuana dispensary, the Liberty Bell Temple on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, CA has served to propel his cult status. NJ Weedman's video series, filmed from the shop, and seen on his website (http://www.libertybelltemple.com/Home.htm ) and at YouTube.com, commands a following of viewers from around the world. He regularly updates his footage with vivid coverage of the happenings in his shop, including specials on the vast varietals of medicinal marijuana he is now able to serve up legally daily to his patients. He recently conducted a live webcam interview from inside the store with radio host Bulldog on WOCM Radio (http://www.irieradio.com) in Maryland, giving the station's listeners entrée into the world of all things cannabis. Located at 5642 Hollywood Boulevard, the dispensary's name represents the basic concepts of democracy and faith. A true "Superhero of the Potheads," NJ Weedman is a hero of sorts for all his former East Coast colleagues. With coverage spanning CNN to MSNBC, national and international news media consider him a leading 'talking head' on all things cannabis.
His shop is also perhaps the only dispensary to boast their own theme song and music video, "One Bud, Liberty Bell Temple." The video was filmed at the store and tributes his new found freedom of expression after so many years of suppression. "One Bud," directed by the talented up and coming filmmaker HAK and performed by Tay Nati can be view at .
